The year was 2019. We could all go outside, we could all be in public venues and we could all enjoy Lucky Daye’s Painted at brunch, concerts, kickbacks, BBQ and other events. Given all that’s transpired, it may be hard to believe, it’s been nearly two years since Lucky Daye delivered a new project. Since then, he’s kept fans happy by delivering collaborations with Kaytranada and writing for Zayn. Now, he’s returning to the microphone to deliver a new single with none other than the talented Tiana Major9.
As the title indicates, “On Read” is all about the disrespect of being left knowing that someone has read your text, but has decided to keep you waiting. Lucky Daye starts off by telling Tiana Major9 that he’s upset that she hasn’t been responding to his texts, but Tiana Major9 quickly puts him in his place.
“What, you gon’ make me beg?/I’d get on my knees if that’d please you/Chat it up/You ain’t gon’ find, how you gonna find a nigga like me, babe,” Lucky Daye sings.
“It’s your lucky day if I answer, oh, ooh-woah/You ain’t gon’ find the sort of reply you’re wanting to get out of me, bae/How many times are you gonna try?/I’m waiting for you to leave it,” Tiana Major9 replies.
