In the past year, we as readers have been treated to some candid and personal stories from professional athletes in the Players Tribune. From Kevin Durant’s story to announce his intentions to sign with the Golden State Warriors to the personal yet hilarious story of Dion Waiters road to Miami, the Players Tribune has allowed us into the lives of athletes.
Subsequently, Lonzo Ball, who will be a sought after prospect by lottery teams, took a moment to recognize his father, Lavar Ball. Although he has been at the forefront of Lonzo’s campaign from the start of his college career all the way up until now, Lavar and his antics have never faltered Lonzo in the slightest.
In his story, Lonzo takes the time to thank his father Lavar for everything he’s done for him and points out how proud he is to be his son. Below you can see some of the quotes from Lavar’s open letter to his father Lavar, but we suggest you check his letter out in its entirety on the Players Tribune.

One of the things I admire most about you is that you don’t really care what other people think. People can have whatever opinions they want about who you are as a person, but they’ll never have all the facts. They’ll never know you like I do.
Thank you for teaching me how to play this game. Thank you for teaching me how to be a man. And thank you for never apologizing for being you.
Happy Father’s Day, Dad. Love you.
