When the highly-discussed Lonzo Ball was drafted second overall by the Los Angeles Lakers, he was expected to be next in the lineage of great guards that have donned a Lakers uniform. After an impressive summer league showing, those expectations remain intact and playing in a city such as LA, everything he says will be put under a microscope, especially when it has to do with a former Laker great.
Michael Jordan recently picked Kobe Bryant over LeBron James in an all-time comparison but the debate between who is better of the two has been a popular topic for years now. When Lonzo was asked about his take on Kobe vs. LeBron, he probably broke some hearts of Laker nation, naming James as his pick and citing his long-time admiration of The King as the main reason. Lonzo Ball said he knows the importance of winning championships but ultimately chose James who has two less rings than Kobe does. While both Bryant and James are two of the best to ever lace them up, there is no wrong answer to the question of who’s better though some may argue LeBron has the more well-rounded game.
Though Ball is clearly a LeBron supporter, James has also made it clear that he’s a fan of the UCLA product and there have even been rumblings about him potentially having interest in joining the Lakers next offseason, a decision that would surely turn the league upside down.
