A number of memorable artists throughout all genres of music have utilized alter egos within their music. Most notably, Beyoncé has exhibited her fiery, passionate side through the presentation of Sasha Fierce. In the world of rap, T.I. battled between his two personalities on 2007’s T.I. vs. T.I.P. With her latest single, rising New York artist Lola Brooke is introducing another side of her artistry with the introduction of “Big Gator.” The New York native has never shied away from showing off her skills and braggadocious side, but “Big Gator” takes her confidence and lyrical aggression to new heights.
“Every day, I’m Lola Brooke, but at other times, I’m Big Gator! This track was created to stamp my bossy energy and bold, territorial problems. I have every reason to show you why not to play with me, so I did. Every season is Gator Season, especially when it’s hot,” she said about her latest single, “Gator Season.”
From the opening note, Lola Broke wastes no time asserting herself over the ominous production. Her layered voice perfectly delivers each and every menacing bar for nearly two minutes.
“B*tches turn religious when they start bleeding. It’s hot off in this b*tch. That’s a good enough reason,” she raps.
“I’m doing the things that I like to do. N*ggas can’t collect from me. B*tches can’t check for me unless they’ve got a check for me,” she adds just before the beat drops.
This is only the start of Lola Brooke’s “Big Gator” persona. As she puts it, there’s more to come later this year.
“Let it be known that the fire will continue after Summer too,” she declared.
