The Baylor Bears will be without guard and leading scorer LJ Cryer for at least the first weekend of the 2022 NCAA Tournament. Injuries have riddled the Baylor Bears’ season and Cryer has already missed several games this season. Baylor earned a one seed in the 2022 NCAA Tournament to follow up their National Championship run in last year’s tournament. The team’s first-round matchup will be on Thursday against the 16 seed Norfolk State Spartans at two p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
BREAKING: Baylor’s leading scorer LJ Cryer will be out for the first weekend of the NCAA tournament, source tells @TheFieldOf68.
This is a big loss for the Bears. Cryer has averaged 13.5 PPG in 19 games this season.

LJ Cryer is the team’s leading scorer at 13.5 points per game and along with that, he averaged 1.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game. This season he shot 47.6 percent from the field and 46.8 percent from the three-point line. The one seed has beaten the 16 seed in every single game but one so Baylor should be fine there. The real challenge will come in the second-round matchup against the winner of the Marquette Golden Eagles and North Carolina Tar Heels matchup.

There isn’t any indication that if the Baylor Bears do make it to the 2022 Sweet 16 that LJ Cryer will be ready to play on the court. He has missed 11 of the last 12 games and only played 15 minutes against the Texas Tech Red Raiders on February 16th. His injury has been seriously impacting him and it is unclear if he will be able to play again this season. We here at Def Pen Sports wish him the best in his recovery and hopeful return to the court.
