Cowboy Bebop is coming to Netflix as a live-action series. The streaming service announced the news Tuesday via Twitter. Rumors of a live-action series have been swirling since last summer without a distributor.
Netflix released an official description alongside the announcement. “Based on the worldwide phenomenon from Sunrise Inc., Cowboy Bebop is the jazz-inspired, genre-bending story of Spike Spiegel, Jet Black, Faye Valentine, and Radical Ed: a ragtag crew of bounty hunters on the run from their pasts as they hunt down the solar system’s most dangerous criminals. They’ll even save the world… for the right price.”
Cowboy Bebop originally aired in 1998 and later found a niche as the first anime on Adult Swim. Christopher Yost, the writer of Thor: Ragnarok is on board to write the first episode. Andre Nemec and Josh Appelbaum are also attached, the duo most recently worked on Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol Netflix has issued a 10-episode order for the series.
