Dwayne “Lil’ Wayne” Carter Jr. has earned a new sentencing date for his ongoing legal battle. Initially, his attorney had requested an expedited court date for January 28, but the date has been delayed until March 4 instead.
The Grammy winner’s sentencing date is connected to a December 2019 search of a private plane traveling from Miami to Los Angeles. During the search, authorities recovered $25,000 in cash, narcotics and a firearm. Despite being unable to legally own the firearm, Carter Jr. pled guilty to putting the firearm in his belongings.
Lil’ Wayne initially faced up to 10 years behind bars. However, his guilty plea has reduced his sentence to a 2-year-maximum. He will stand before U.S. District Judge Kathleen Williams on March 4 for his official sentence. He has yet to make a public statement regarding the matter.
