It’s still in its early stages, but Lil’ Wayne’s partnership with Apple Radio has been an overwhelming success thus far. Including interviews with Drake, Kevin Durant, Eminem and others, Young Money Radio is only moving up from here. Over the weekend, the New Orleans native chopped it up with Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser. During their discussion, the two touched on recent demonstrations, law enforcement funding and much more.
“Two weeks ago I presented my budget to the DC Council. We have a commitment to our city because when we look at our city, we looked at all wards of our city: population, where people work, clubs, nightlife. We know we need about 4,000 police officers and we need that for a city of our size to keep our neighborhoods safe,” Mayor Bowser said when asked about her decision to increase police funding by $19 million.

Later on, she touched on her recent back and forth with President Donald Trump as protests grew in size throughout the city.
“I think this is how it all started with Trump. Somebody told him that D.C. Police wouldn’t help the Secret Service and he just doesn’t know how it works here. D.C. Police work with the Secret Service and the Park Police on hundreds of demonstrations and they have a partnership and they have a way of working together and they do it well together. I think he (Trump) was misinformed and he came out swinging on us. And it’s kind of strange when a president of the United States is swinging down on a mayor,” Bowser said.
On Saturday, the city held its largest demonstration yet. With no signs of slowing down, the nation’s capital will continue to be a city to watch during this international movement.
