Lil Nas X has leaped to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with his viral single “Old Town Road”. Billboard reports that “Old Town Road” streamed in the U.S. over 46 million times in the week ending April 4, according to Nielsen. It went from the No. 15 spot to the No. 1 spot on Monday.
Lil Nas X recently released a remix to the single with Billy Ray Cyrus. There was much controversy two weeks ago when Billboard removed “Old Town Road” from the Hot Country Songs chart. The publication determined that the song did not “embrace enough elements of today’s country music to chart in its current version.” While it didn’t top the country chart, the Atlanta native can celebrate having the No. 1 song in the country.
