On Saturday, December 9, Liam Paro knocked Montana Love down twice en route to a sixth-round stoppage victory. The Australian fighter improved his professional record to 24-0 with 15 knockouts and put himself in a position to fight for a world title.
Paro remained busy throughout 2020 and 2021 with four wins, including his U.S. debut against Yomar Álamo. Unfortunately, injuries sidelined Paro for much of 2022 and 2023. In fact, he had only fought one round between December 2021 and the opening bell of this evening’s contest. Still, he managed to pull through and capture the biggest win of his career thus far. Moving forward, he’s interested in fight either Regis Prograis or Devin Haney for the WBC Super Lightweight Championship.
Love’s career is seemingly trending in the wrong direction. He began his career with 11 consecutive wins before earning a draw against Kenneth Sims Jr. in 2018. After that, he reeled seven more wins before losing to Steve Spark. Now, Love is in a position he’s never been in as a professional. Winless since May 2022, the Ohio native will return to the drawing board as he looks to find a place in the crowded super lightweight division.
