Kara will face off against a familiar villain in season 4 of Supergirl. Lex Luthor will be appearing in the current season of the CW show. A casting search is now underway for the iconic villain. Michael Rosenbaum was the last actor to portray Luthor in the CW’s Smallville.
Executive producers Robert L. Rovner and Jessica Queller released a joint statement regarding the news. “We’re beyond excited to introduce iconic villain Lex Luthor to Supergirl and to weave him into our story this season. We’ve talked about having Lex on the show since its inception, and we’re excited to have him finally arrive. We can’t wait for him to shake things up in National City and watch him go toe to toe with not only Supergirl, but his sister, Lena Luthor (Katie McGrath).”
Lex’s sister Lena has played a major role in the series for some time now. Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman will return in December’s annual Arrowverse crossover event and it’ll be interesting to see him face off with Luthor in the future. The event will also introduce Elizabeth “Bitsie” Tulloch as Lois Lane, however, Lex Luthor will not debut on the series until the second half of the season.
No word yet on the frontrunners to portray Lex Luthor. Supergirl airs Sundays on the CW.
