This week, Lena Dunham is beginning a new chapter after splitting from Jenni Konner, her longtime producing partner, last year. Dunham launched a new production banner, Good Thing Going, at HBO this week, and already has a number of projects in the works.
First up, Dunham and co have got a new series based in the cutthroat world of international finance. Industry tells the story of wide-eyed 20-somethings trying to break into the finance world and make a name for themselves. Dunham has also got a pilot order for a Generation in the pipeline for HBO Max. She’s only executive producing on the new half-hour dramedy though as it was written and created by 17-year-old Zelda Barnz.
Generation exemplifies Duham’s self-professed focus with Good Thing Going. “As a producer, my only goal is to give other artists the chance to be as noisy and honest as I’ve been,” said the Girls creator. “I’m firmly of the belief that we grow together when we allow each other to be as messy and complex in our art as we are in our lives. I’m so excited to be leading Good Thing Going with a group of close collaborators who share my hunger for getting hooked on new voices and perspectives.”
Dunham is just the latest acquisition for HBO Max as a few weeks ago the BBC struck a deal to host their content exclusively on the streamer. There are also a number of interesting original shows and reboots coming to the service. Notably, Gossip Girl is getting updated for a modern audience.
