Lemony Snicket is headed to Netflix.
The streaming service has ordered an A Series of Unfortunate Events adaptation and will rework the 13 Lemony Snicket novels into a series.
The books follow orphans Violet, Sunny and Klaus Baudelaire and their attempt to discover the cause of their parents death wile their sneaky and conniving uncle Count Olaf tries to get his hands on the family fortune.
Netlix vice president of original content Cindy Holland said:
“We are proud to start work on a series for a global audience that already loves the books. The world created by Lemony Snicket is unique, darkly funny, and relatable. We can’t wait to bring it to life for Netflix members.”
The 2004 film version starred Jim Carrey, Meryl Streep and Billy Connolly.
Netflix also ordered a live-action adaptation of Richie Rich.
