Kobe has had his tries at recruiting people this year, mostly Carmelo Anthony. It didn’t help at all, as you can obviously see with the Los Angeles Lakers current position in the western conference and the array of talent they have on their roster.
Now we are hearing reports that Kobe Bryant did not try to recruit LeBron James, who was the biggest fish in the free-agency this summer.
According to Dave McMenamin on ESPN:
LeBron James when asked if Kobe Bryant recruited him during free agency this summer: “No”
Well that pretty much settles it. The real question is why? Why try to bring Carmelo Anthony but not LeBron James. I feel like although both Melo and LeBron demand a lot of attention, both on the basketball court and in the media, LeBron would be too much for Kobe too handle. I know it’s crazy to say, because at the end of the day, we are talking about the Black Mamba here. LeBron James is the king of publicity himself, having both Kobe Bryant and Lebron Jame son the same team would be a headache in all areas, and even Kobe realized that.
