With all this free agency, it’s easy to get lost in it (that’s why you come to us) remember at the beginning of free agency when the Cleveland Cavaliers quickly locked up a couple of players? We forget that they had 8 to lock up (or not lock up).
One of them was Tristan Thompson. There were reports that he was taken care of by the Cavaliers but he actually hasn’t been sorted yet. LeBron James, who has the same agent as Thompson has told the Cavs (via Brian Windhorst) that he won’t talk contract until Tristan is taken care of.
To that end, James doesn’t plan to start talks with Cavs until Tristan Thompson’s deal is settled. Currently those talks are stalled.

It’s all good that he wants his teammate to get his money, but notice that the Cavaliers are WAY over the cap limitations. They’re acting like the new cap is already in effect. They’re doing a Brooklyn Nets but actually have a chance of winning the championship.
This is Yankee mentality right here. Buy now, worry about it later. It’s quite scary that the numbers they’re at right now will be normal next year.
