The Golden State Warriors took down the Oklahoma City Thunder in seven games. Now, the Cleveland Cavaliers have to go up against the Splash Bros and co. Cavs forward LeBron James had some extremely high praise for Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. From USA Today’s AJ Neuharth-Keusch:
“They shoot the ball extremely well,” James said. “Klay and Steph are probably the two greatest shooters that we’ve probably ever seen. Obviously in today’s game they are. Some of the shots, there’s nothing that you can do about it. Better offense beats great defense any day.”
“It’s hard to contain them,” the four-time MVP continued. “We all know that, the whole league knows that, our team knows that. But we have a game plan and we have to follow it and be true to it.”
It’s virtually universally accepted that Curry is the greatest shooter of all time, but saying that Thompson is number two on that list is quite the bold statement. Don’t get me wrong; Thompson is in the conversation. But it’s tough to say whether he’s a better shooter than, for example, James’ former teammate Ray Allen. However you personally rank the great shooters throughout history, one thing is certain: LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers will have their hands full this NBA Finals. Prepare for an onslaught of three-pointers, Cavs.
