The Cleveland Cavaliers are only 2 games ahead of the 2nd seed Toronto Raptors. Their latest loss was against the Toronto Raptors. LeBron James recently said that the Cavs currently “Lack Mental”.
So why of all times would the Cavaliers rest LeBron James? It seems like an awkward time to do it.
“Just having three games in four nights, an early game and we just played in Toronto the other day,” Lue explained. “I just felt today is a good game to get him a break and give him a rest.”
James played 40 minutes, including the entire second half, in the Cavs’ 99-97 loss to the Toronto Raptors on Friday.
“He didn’t want to come out,” Lue said. “He didn’t want to come out. I should’ve got him out, but he didn’t want to come out. As the game started down the stretch getting close, I said I’m going to get you out for a couple minutes. He said, ‘No!’ He went crazy. That kind of has something to do with sitting him today, an early game at 1 o’clock.“
Okay that’s fair enough. But honestly I will still chalk this up as a calculated risk. The Cavs aren’t as dominant as once thought before the season started. The Raptors are hot on them and the Wizards could possibly win this game.
Now I’m probably just over thinking. 1st seed or 2nd seed the Cleveland Cavaliers will most likely be in the Eastern Conference Finals, but in the moment, it’s getting interesting.
