Considered one of the best players of all time, LeBron James is giving out some complements of his own to other players playing with and against him in the Finals, which begins Thursday. James believes both Kyrie Irving and Stephen Curry are two of the best ball handlers to ever play in the NBA.
“They are two of the best ball handlers that this league has ever seen,” James said Wednesday at Oracle Arena, where the teams held their final practice before the start of the series.
Coming from a player who has so many of the skills players in the NBA look to emulate, these comments have to feel nice for both Curry and Irving. The Finals are sure to hold some nice moves off the dribble, and some broken ankles for opposing players.
“Their ability to make shots off the handle, Steph’s ability to use his handle to get off shots, those step-backs and Kyrie’s ability to be crafty, use his ability to get into the lane and make shots. When you have a handle like that, you can pretty much get any shot you want, and they both show you that.
The two different styles of ball handling will be showcased starting Thursday, and one will have to come out victorious. Although there are much other factors, the styles used by the point guards has to be one of the top concerns of opposing defenses.
There will for sure be a lot to watch out for, and a lot of tough defense that will have to be played so either point guard can be stopped. Getting a complement from LeBron James means something, but both Curry and Irving will have to prove they can do more than just handle a basketball to win a championship.
