In the 2016 NBA Finals the Cleveland Cavaliers grinded away at the Warriors by slowing the game down. Having a methodical pace of just 92 in last year’s playoffs, that number has spiked up to 98 in 2017. Going all the way up to 105 in the Finals, their style of play has looked much different thus far.
With this, many are calling for a return to last year’s rate, as gunning with the Warriors seems like a plan doomed to fail. Despite the cries from the masses, the Cav’s leader seems dead set on playing how they have been all year long according to Anthony Slater.
LeBron James reiterates that Cavaliers don’t want to slow pace vs Warriors: “That’s not our game. We don’t play slow down basketball.”

LeBron’s comments have been anything but encouraging after getting blown out in two consecutive games. Even the decision to stay fast appears to be one of defeat. Adjustments clearly need to be made, whether LeBron James wants to admit it or not.
