Now if you have forgotten already, LeBron James had the lowest minutes per game average in his career! 36.1 MPG, that’s a far cry from the 40+ MPG he accrued when he was in his early 20’s.
Last season was the first time he played under the 37 MPG mark, and Cavs head coach David Blatt plans to lower the career low of 36.1. LeBron was reluctant of course, but he’s prepared.
“I think that’s a coach Blatt, myself conversation,” James said Monday when asked about his minutes. “We haven’t quite gotten there yet. I’m very hard headed, I am, because I love to play so much. But I think (with) what we have, I don’t need to be as hard headed. I think I’ll be very smart with how many minutes I play per game and what I’m doing on the floor.
“I think we have enough pieces to (reduce James’ minutes),” James continued. “And I think Kevin Love will allow me to sit a lot this year just because of his ability, what he’s able to do. Kyrie (Irving) as well. So I won’t have to worry about playing big minutes this year.”
Now what I’m hearing is LeBron trusting his teammates, in particular Kevin Love, who was crying all season right until he got injured. LeBron has relaxed on bashing Love, it’s time for Love to take the trust and actually help this team.
Because if I have to do a post about Love in a negative context again, I’m going to rub my eyes until I’m blind.
