Whether you like it or not, Space Jam 2 is set to come to a theatre near you. The sequel to the successful Space Jam movie that starred Michael Jordan going off with his squad of Looney Tunes characters. Although LeBron James has not been confirmed to be the a star for the second instalment, it’s widely assumed he’s the player they want for the role. Jordan himself was asked who he would want in the movie and said Blake Griffin, so there is the possibility of that as well.
While Warner Brother will search for their lead actor, LeBron James says he would love to be the star in Space Jam 2. While speaking with Business Insider’s Alyson Shontell, James revealed that although he’s interested in the role, there’s still some way to go, before anything can be confirmed:
Shontell: While we’re on the subject of movies, “Space Jam 2”?
James: Would love to, would love to. And there have been a lot of talks about it, but, obviously, I have a great partnership with Warner Bros., and they definitely were the ones who brought “Space Jam 1,” which was incredible. Michael Jordan and the Looney Tunes — they did an unbelievable thing not only for my childhood, but for so many kids and so many people that followed the franchise.
So, obviously, we want to make sure that it’s right. We don’t want to rush it. We don’t want to do something that’s not authentic to the “Space Jam” brand. So, hopefully, we can get it right. But right now, where it stands, the “Space Jam” franchise is in a great place.
If James does end up becoming the Space Jam 2 star, let’s hope it brings a new and fresh aspect to the Space Jam franchise and not make it a silly re-make that ruins the franchise.
