Everyone has spoken on Kobe Bryant confirming his retirement. Every time I swipe up on my Twitter timeline, there’s something about Kobe. Whether it’s an article, a picture of Kobe while the poster captions “Thank You”, Kobe edits via photoshop, my Twitter is all Kobe. And I’ll be honest, it’s driving me a little nuts.
So what do I do? I do a post where LeBron James talks about Kobe. Call me a hypocrite but hey, it’s a classic case of pot, kettle. Now LeBron has many idols. MJ, Iverson, Dr J. And now he’s saying that he wanted to be like Kobe. Pick a lane man!
James said he even wore an afro when he was in high school so he could look like Bryant.
James says: ”I wanted to be just like him, man.”
James said he regrets not holding ”up my end of the bargain” and getting to the NBA Finals in 2009, when fans were clamoring for a matchup between the two All-Stars.
James says he ”always thought of Kobe” during offseason workouts and pushed himself harder because he knew Bryant was in a gym somewhere.
Man LeBron owes most of his career looks to his idols. He rocked the afro because of Kobe, he wore the arm sleeve and headband because of Allen Iverson. And he’ll probably give in to the receding hair line in a few years and just go full on bald like Michael Jordan.
