I don’t think in my 21 years of life i’ve ever heard of a 10-year old kid getting college offers for sports. Well LeBron James Jr. isn’t your normal 10-year old and his game definitely deserves the attention it’s getting. If you don’t believe me check out this highlight tape from the John Lucas tournament he was in over all-star break.
LeBron James spoke on this topic to WKYC before his games against the Detroit Pistons last night
“Yeah, he’s already got some offers from colleges,” James said. “It’s pretty crazy. It should be a violation. You shouldn’t be recruiting 10-year old kids.”
James Sr. see’s a lot of similarities in their game, which can definitely explain why James Jr is one of the top ranked 10-year old kids in the country.
“He plays just like I did,” James said. “He has great awareness, and he’d rather pass first and set guys up. Most kids nowadays just want to score.”
I thought it was extremely odd for a kid that young to get contacted by a college at such a young age. Sure, having James Jr. at your college is going to provide more that just basketball benefits but let the kid be a kid just a little longer. You got to wonder if Ohio State is one of the schools offering James Jr considering their relationship with James Sr.
I did some investigating to find any other kids in James Jr situatioan and to my surprise I came across several other young ballers who had been contacted by colleges. Check them out below.
