In a move that shocked no one, ‘The King’ has elected to return back home. Again. This time with a little less fanfare, celebration and excitement behind it.
LeBron James, the best free agent ‘available’ this summer, has informed the Cavs of his intention to re-sign with the team. A move that was expected the minute he formally announced he was opting out of his deal.
It was previously reported that James wouldn’t talk about a contract until Tristan Thompson re-signed, it appears that LeBron is jumping the gun and has confidence the Cavs will bring Thompson back to the Cavs.
Following from Chris Broussard of ESPN.
Agent Rich Paul tells Cavs today LeBron will sign 2 yr deal with player option for 2nd year. $22.97 million 1st season, $24 mill 2nd year

James’ willingness to re-join the team shows that he believes in what the Cavs are doing with their plan this summer. They brought back Iman Shumpert, Kevin Love and Timofey Mozgov, made a deal with Mo Williams and they are progressing on deals with both J.R. Smith and Tristan Thompson.
The thing is, LeBron will continue to do these 1+1 deals for seemingly the remainder of his career or until the NBA salary cap doesn’t hit continued spikes much like it will do for the next 2-3 seasons.
