LeBron James trying to rebuild his hometown of Akron from the ground up and he’s starting by preparing for the future. James has partnered with the University of Akron to provide students in his program with a path straight to college. But now LeBron is taking that program and going one step further.
The King has stated on many occasions that he wants to be the change in his hometown of Akron. James has famously said that he’s ‘just a kid from Akron’ and he got lucky. But being the top star in NBA, if not all of sports, holds a lot of weight and LeBron holds his end of the bargain to give back to where he is from.
He continues to show the city of Akron an immense amount of support and his latest endeavor showcases that more than ever. LeBron is opening a school for Akron’s at-risk youth. The new public school named the ‘I promise’ school will bring these students and connect them with some great teachers and assets to develop their future. This all became possible thanks to the ‘LeBron James Family Foundation’ and the city of Akron Public Schools council.
