LeBron James is developing a TV drama for NBC titled ‘Hoops’. The series will revolve around a former WNBA star who becomes the head coach of a men’s college basketball team. Freshly minted Los Angeles Laker LeBron James will be an executive producer on the show along with Elizabeth Banks and Max Handelman’s Brownstone Productions.
This is the summary of the story according to Hollywood Reporter:
Written by Jennifer Cecil (Notorious, Heartbeat), Hoops revolves around Stevie Decker, who, after years on the road as both a star player and coach in the WNBA, jumps at the chance to return to her alma mater to become the first female head coach of a men’s college basketball team. But her homecoming isn’t easy, as her career has taken a toll on her family and the school she loves is embroiled in a sex scandal involving her mentor, a legendary former coach.
This is not the first project that LeBron James has jumped on since moving to Hollywood. He’s producing his own HBO sports show ‘Barbershop’, he’s been forever rumored to play in the Space Jam sequel and he will definitely be taking his acting career to the next level while there. He’s also going to be producing a sitcom based loosely off 76ers Forward Ben Simmons life. So outside of basketball, LeBron James will be busy.
There won’t be much to worry about on the court when it comes to his performance, he’s always ready to play but a lot of people have been questioning where his head is at in terms of coming to Los Angeles. Regardless, you know as a competitor he’s going to be bringing it every night in a Lakers uniform. As for the Hollywood side of things, let the guy have his fun. He’s done enough for the NBA already.
