On the eve of the 2017 NBA Finals, the Los Angeles home of Cavs superstar LeBron James was vandalized with a racial slur. This unfortunate event James is now forced to deal with could not have come at a worse time.
Though James is surely focused on securing a title for the city of Cleveland for the second year in a row, the superstar sees the bigger picture relating to this hate crime. When asked about it, LeBron expressed how it’s nothing new to face hate in this country as an African-American, and how racism is a concept that will forever be engrained in the world and in America.

What James is speaking on is a subject he’s more than aware of and he has been known to have a passion towards racial equality in the past. As a global icon and one of the most high-profile figures in the world, LeBron has repeatedly done a fantastic job at shedding light on an issue that needs to be addressed.
Though certainly a tragedy, the important thing as James said is that his family is out of harm’s way and hopefully, it doesn’t serve as a distraction during his quest towards a fourth championship ring.
