LeBron James Hasn’t Been Doing The Powder Toss Lately
The LeBron James pregame powder toss became a staple routine from his time as a rookie in Cleveland and through his three years in Miami. When LeBron went back to Cleveland this summer, he even let his fans help in deciding on whether or not he should bring back the powder toss to Quicken Loans Arena.
The Cavaliers have won their last three games after a 5-7 start to the season, and Northeast Media Group reveals that the powder toss was removed from LeBron’s pregame routine last week:
LeBron James now shoots with teammates about an hour before the game and he has apparently stopped doing the chalk toss.
Both items — the pregame shooting and non-chalk tossing — are part of a slew of changes James made last week. They worked.
Not only did the Cavaliers win all three games, but James averaged 25.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 8.7 assists, and 2.3 steals. […] The week before, it was 18.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 7.0 assists in four losses.
LeBron will make any adjustments he feels necessary to get his team on the right track. If that means making a change to his pregame routine, for whatever reason, so be it. The keys to LeBron’s strategy are just creating as much chemistry as possible. The Cavaliers still have to find out who they are on the defensive end, and that starts with LeBron too.
The Cavaliers face the young and upcoming Milwaukee Bucks (10-8) next on Tuesday night.
