Cleveland Cavaliers have all but locked up the second seed in the Eastern Conference with about a week remaining in the regular season. As the playoffs approach, this is the opportunity for some teams to either jockey for positioning in their respective conferences or make sure everyone is healthy and ready to go.
It appears for one superstar, it might just be a time for some rest. LeBron James is reportedly going to sit out games at the end of the season as reported by ESPN’s Dave McMenamin.
LeBron’s quip was more in jest. Says he’ll sit a couple games before the playoffs. Hasn’t determined which ones yet.

LeBron said this after he said to reporters that he won’t. Dave McMenamin tweeted this too:
LeBron on the possibility of sitting down the stretch: “You rest when you retire”

Depending on which games on the Cavs schedule that LeBron sits, he could change the look of the playoffs greatly. The Cavs have five more games, and four of them are against teams in the playoffs without a specific spot or fighting for a spot.
They play the Celtics twice, who are fighting for a spot, the Pistons who may not get a spot, Milwaukee who is looking to be the 6 seed, but they could fall to the 7 seed, and the Wizards who could land anywhere from 3-5. Depending on which games LeBron plays in and his team wins, it could change the Eastern conference seedings a lot including giving the Celtics a playoff birth. The always calculated and strategic ‘King’ will properly decide which games he may or may not play that most benefits his team the most.
