Ray Cooper III earned a major shoutout from perhaps the biggest star in sports today, LeBron James. Immediately after witnessing Cooper III’s improbable knockout against Magomed Magomedkerimov on Wednesday night, James took to social media like many others and tweeted in disbelief.
“My goodness young bull! With the left too,” the four-time NBA Champion wrote.
A congratulatory tweet from James capped off what was great night for Cooper III. The reigning PFL Welterweight Champion entered the ring against the 2018 PFL Welterweight Champion Magomed Magomedkerimov as an underdog. Through the first 2.5 rounds, Magomedkerimov staggered Cooper III several times and nearly finished him early in the third round. Then, Cooper III summoned everything he had left to land two huge right hands to put Magomedkerimov out.
After winning the PFL Welterweight Title twice, Cooper III is not free agent. It’s unclear what his next move is, but he has put other fighters on notice that he is searching for welterweight titles across all promotions.
“I know I’m the best. I’ll take out the UFC champion, the Bellator champion. We should go out and unify the belts,” he said after the fight.
“Put me against anybody, I’ll take them all out.”
