Raiders running back Latavius Murray is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason. The Raiders have already let go of offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave. Will the Raiders let Murray leave this offseason too? During during an interview with Alex Marvez and Bill Polian of Sirius XM NFL Radio, Murray stated his desire to stay with the Silver and Black.
“I want to stay and finish what I started,” Murray said. “I don’t want to go anywhere. I don’t want to be a guy who’s bouncing around the NFL from team to team. … This season was a lot of fun. I’m looking forward to winning a championship with these guys.”
Murray scored a career-high 12 touchdowns in 2016 and will probably be a hot commodity in free agency. The question for the Raiders is what price would they be willing to give Murray? Complementary backs Jalen Richard and DeAndre Washington did a nice job at times for Oakland last year. The Raiders could very well draft his replacement as well.
The Raiders number one priorities will be giving extensions to Derek Carr and Khalil Mack who will play the 2017 season on 1-year deals. I’m not so sure the Raiders can afford to give Murray what he will be looking for.
