The biggest event in American professional sports is coming to Sin City. ESPN‘s Paul Gutierrez has reported that the NFL is looking to place Super Bowl LVIII at Allegiant Stadium in 2024. Neither the NFL or the Las Vegas Raiders have confirmed the report, but Gutierrez and the Las Vegas Review Journal suggest the deal is already done and simply awaiting league approval. If everything goes according to plan, the news could become official as soon as Wednesday.
Super Bowl LVIII could land in Las Vegas just four years after the Raiders left Oakland in search of a larger stadium. Through their search, they arrived at Allegiant Stadium in 2020. The stadium currently holds 65,000 seats and has hosted events such as the 2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup Final and the 2021 Pac-12 Football Championship Game. Allegiant Stadium is also expected to host the Pro Bowl in 2022.
Super Bowl LVIII was not originally set to land in Las Vegas. Instead, it was supposed to land in New Orleans, but scheduling conflicts delayed the event until the following year. In the immediate future, the next two Super Bowls will be played in Inglewood and Glendale before landing in Sin City.
