Larry Sanders mysteriously left the Milwaukee Bucks almost two years ago and once he hit the free agency market, he was one of the most sought after talents. He was young, standing nearly seven feet tall and he was a fantastic rebounder with some good shot blocking skills but he elected to not return to the NBA. He retired and stepped away from the game.
Now it appears that Sanders will be competing against NBA level talent once again. Sanders recently announced he would be playing in ‘The Basketball Tournament’ or ‘TBT’.
Sanders went to VCU and he will be joining a group of fellow Rams on the ‘Ram Nation’ team. Eric Maynor is the main booster for the team and he will join former VCU greats like Bradford Burgess, Joey Rodriguez and Darius Theus as they compete in the Midwest Region, looking to be that team to compete for $2 million in New York later this summer.
Sanders playing in TBT could possibly be a good sign of a return to the NBA. Of all the former players who are competing in this tournament, a return to professional hoops would make the most sense for him. He’s still young and if he still has skills, a team might try to reach out and give him a shot. That is if he wants to get back into it.
