Michael Jordan and Larry Bird: two of the great basketball icons who catapulted the 80’s era. What Jordan and Bird shared in competitive stature was a feisty, relentless desire to beat their opponents, aside from their respective skill sets. What they share in common now is their lasting connection to the NBA as members of the front office — Jordan with the Charlotte Hornets and Bird with the Indiana Pacers.
In a game of one-one-one, seeing Jordan and Bird go at it in their primes would really be something to see. If that were to occur today, Bird concedes to His Airness. Bird told Dan Patrick that he would practically stand no chance against Jordan in a game of one-on-one today, mostly due to being 40 pounds overweight and lacking the same drive he once had. Jordan’s drive, judging from how he thinks he’d be able to beat Hornets players one-on-one, never seems to wane. Who knows, maybe with enough notice in advance and time to prepare, this could become a segment at All-Star weekend or something. Jordan might welcome it, but as of right now, Bird would apparently want no parts.
