Former Celtics legend and current Pacers’ President Larry Bird phoned in Monday on the Dan Patrick show to discuss a variety of topics. One of those topics was regarding the best 3-point shooters in NBA History.
Patrick asked Bird whether he can say that Curry’s the best shooter that we’ve ever seen, to which Bird replied:
“Now I don’t know about that.”
However, Bird does believe that Curry should be in the conversation, saying:
“Curry’s about one of the best”
When questioned, Bird said that he believes that he should be in the conversation as well. Patrick asked him if Reggie Miller should be in that conversation. Bird, who both played against and coached Miller, had high praise for the former Pacer, saying:
“Yep. Reggie Hit as many big shots as, if you go back and look through the years, as anyone.”
That’s high praise for Miller, and also for Curry to be in that conversation at such a young age. Of course, somebody else who has to be in that conversation is the all time leader for made 3-pointers: Ray Allen. Allen has as much of a claim to the title of greatest shooter ever as anybody.
Regardless of who the best shooter ever is, there’s no question that there have been many great ones.
Also in the interview, Bird admitted that Michael Jordan would “kill” him 1-on-1 today, due to Bird’s lack of physical conditioning and less passion than he once had.
