The Portland Trailblazers have been through a whirlwind of emotions throughout the past two weeks. First they heard that LaMarcus Aldridge will miss 6-8 weeks due to a thumb injury and must also have surgery. Then, about a couple days later, LaMarcus Aldridge opted out of surgery and NOW he claims he will be back for the rest of the season.
According to Sam Amick of USA Today:
“This wasn’t a one-game thing,” Aldridge said. “Once I said I was going to try, then I was back. And if it became too much, then I was going to have surgery. … So as of now, I’m back. But if I get it whacked or if something happens where I can’t tolerate it and I’m not playing at a good enough level to help the team, then I’ll have surgery. But as of now, I think they have done a good job of protecting it, so I’m back for the season and then I’ll just have surgery in the offseason.”
That is music to any Portland Trailblazers fans ears. Aldridge will most likely still need surgery, but he will opt to do that after the season, showing his true dedication to the Blazers. Aldridge is a free agent this summer and this might just push him to stay with the Blazers, because that’s pure dedication.
