Lamar Odom continues to struggle with addiction issues. He was recently removed from a plane for being drunk and frequently vomiting. According to Extra, Odom’s family attempted to organize an intervention for the former NBA star, but Odom left immediately once he saw what was going on:
Family sources tell “Extra” that last night’s attempt at an intervention for Lamar Odom was unsuccessful, but that they are committed to getting him help.
Khloé Kardashian’s estranged husband was extremely surprised and left the location, but is still in New York.
“Extra” was told that several family members were on hand, including his aunt, JaNean Mercer; his kids; and his ex-wife Liza Morales.
According to Extra, Odom’s family reached out to former New York Met Darryl Strawberry to arrange for Odom to enter the Darryl Strawberry Recovery Center in Florida. Strawberry and his own counselor Ron Dock were reportedly present at the attempted intervention with Odom.
Odom has been publicly sighted at major events, including Kobe Bryant’s last game and the debut of Kanye West’s new album at Madison Square Garden, encouraging hope that recovery was in his future. Odom even credited Kanye’s music in his recovery, and implied that he could even make a return to the court. His friends were recently reported to be worried about Odom using drugs again. The way it’s appearing now, it’s unclear what role Odom is willing to play in his own uplift.
