Carmelo Anthony’s 9th career ejection last night against the Celtics sparked vast outrage and disapproval from Knicks fans, who believe he was wrongfully kicked out of the contest.
Anthony picked up consecutive technical fouls after arguing with veteran referee Tony Brothers in the second quarter, causing the mandatory ejection. While it’s rare to see this kind of situation play out, Tony Brothers and Carmelo Anthony managed to do just that last night at TD Garden.
Many took to social media, bashing Brothers for being so quick with the whistle. Among them, Carmelo Anthony’s wife, LaLa Anthony:
He hates Mel. It’s personal. Always has. https://t.co/oHGrrOe30Q

Carmelo has a history of being vocal on the court, whether with opponents, teammates, coaches, or even officials. But Anthony, who’s in his 14th NBA season, has earned a certain level of respect from those around him that helps prevent him from situations like these; Of course, the fact that he’s a top-10 forward in the league helps as well.
With that being said, what did Anthony have to say that set off ref Tony Brothers like that?
“Bad language”, Brothers said after the game.
When asked if there was a past personal issue with Carmelo, as LaLa claimed, he responded with a straight-forward answer:
“No”.
Knicks fans are pleading with the league to review last night’s officiating crew, believing they did a sub-par job throughout the contest. The Knicks wound up losing by 28, ending with a total of six technical fouls called against them.
