With the addition of Tyler Ennis, the Lakers will take on his $1.7 million contract that will last through the end of this season.
The Rockets deciding to waive Marcelo Huertas allows them to have a free roster spot. Huertas has $1.5 million remaining on his contact, and he also has a team option for $1.5 million next season.
The Lakers had been in talks leading up to the deadline about trading for Indiana Pacers star Paul George, but were unable to find a trade that would make both sides happy.
The Rockets currently sit in the second seed in the East, and this trade allows them the option to grab a player off of the waiver wire, or sign a player to a 10-day contract if they wish.
The two teams already made a trade earlier in the week when the Lakers sent Lou Williams to the Rockets for their 2017 first round pick. The Rockets made one other move at the deadline, sending KJ McDaniels to the Brooklyn Nets for a protected second round pick.
