About a week after they contacted the Cavaliers about swing man Dion Waiters, the Los Angeles Lakers seem to be a little busy on the phones as of late and have made some calls to talk to some teams about some important players.
The Detroit Pistons, after letting go one of their biggest contracts in Josh Smith, have been scorching hot as of late and continued their hot start with a big win over the Raptors in Toronto.
Now according to sources the Lakers have picked up the phone and might want to break up the flow that Detroit has going.
As for Lakers, they have been very active since 12/15. Made calls on Waiters, Jennings, Monroe. Asst GM Glen Carraro is working the phones.

It would definetely be interesting to see how this trade would go down. What exactly would the Lakers give up that Stan Van Gundy would want to bring back in return for 2 of his big 3 in Motor City.
Obviously, right now isn’t the best time to be going to Detroit and looking for a deal as every piece of that team is key to what they have going on in Detroit. For the right offer though, I don’t see Van Gundy ignoring a call from any team.
Getting either of these guys would immediately upgrade the Lakers, much to the dismay of Magic Johnson but only getting Monroe would make sense. Monroe coming into the Lakers fold would be interesting. Los Angeles could try and sell him on the city and see if they can keep him around in the future plans. For Jennings though, it doesn’t make that much sense. He would just take the ball away from Kobe Bryant and it wouldn’t work well with the team dynamic. Jennings is a Cali-kid though so I’m sure he wouldn’t object to playing back out West.
