Not that this is really shocking, but the Los Angeles Lakers were officially eliminated from playoff contention last night following the Pelicans win over the Nets.
“This marked the Lakers’ earliest elimination since the franchise moved to Los Angeles before the 1960-61 season,” said Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Daily News. “This will also mark the second consecutive season the Lakers will not make the postseason, including the seventh time in franchise history.”
“The bad news might keep on coming. The Lakers currently have a .258 winning percentage, the worst in franchise history. The Lakers are also only 10 more losses away from finishing with a worst record than last year’s team that went 27-55, the team’s worst in L.A. franchise history.”
Again this isn’t shocking, nobody expected the Lakers to make the playoffs. The fact that they’re the first team “officially eliminated,” not the Knicks or 76ers, is just funny.
The Lakers will continue to “Play poor for Okafor,” because if they don’t get one of the top five picks in the draft, their first round pick will go to the Sixers from the Michael Carter-Williams Brandon Knight three team trade.
