As the NBA continues it’s tremendous push towards becoming more of a global league, the league is set to carry on another additional element of international play for next season.
According to ESPN, the Los Angeles Lakers and Brooklyn Nets will hold some of their preseason games in China next season, continuing off this season in which the Dallas Mavericks and Philadelphia 76ers traveled to the country in October.
The Los Angeles Lakers and Brooklyn Nets will travel to China later this year for games before the start of the 2019-20 season, multiple sources told ESPN’s Michael Yuan.
The teams will play in Shanghai on Oct. 10 and will meet in Shenzhen on Oct. 12, continuing the trend of NBA squads competing in China.
Two of the more marquee teams in the NBA, the Lakers and Nets are fitting candidates to put their talent on display in China during next season’s preseason games.
Of course, the Lakers feature the best player on the planet in LeBron James who always commands attention and it will be no different in China. This will be far from James’ first experience in China, as the star played there with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2007 and with the Miami Heat in 2013. James would also play for the USA National Team in the 2008 Olympics which were held in Beijing.
The Nets also feature an exciting crop of young talent with the likes of D’Angelo Russell, Spencer Dinwiddie, Caris LeVert and Jarrett Allen among others. Keep an eye out for these two emergent squads facing off overseas prior to the 2019-20 regular season.
