Earlier this week, the Lakers made another solid addition however it wasn’t to their roster. Instead, the franchise brought in 41-year-old Antawn Jamison to fill a scouting role according to The Vertical’s Shams Charania:
The Los Angeles Lakers plan to hire two-time NBA All-Star Antawn Jamison in a scouting role, league sources told The Vertical.
Jamison, 41, will work in the scouting department under Lakers president of basketball operations Magic Johnson, general manager Rob Pelinka and assistant general manager Jesse Buss, league sources said.
Though Antawn Jamison has been retired for years now, he has always maintained close contact with the NBA world, serving as a Lakers analyst since 2014.
During his 16-year playing career, Jamison made the All-Star team twice and was known as one of the more dangerous offensive weapons from the power forward position during his prime days with the Washington Wizards and Golden State Warriors. Jamison wrapped up his playing career with his final two seasons taking place in the City of Angels, one campaign with the Lakers and the other with the Clippers.
Jamison is likely expected to come in and help find fresh talent that meshes with their timeline and what seems to be an uptempo style of play. For his career, Jamison averaged an impressive stat line of 18.5 points per contest while also snaring 7.5 boards.
