Los Angeles Lakers guard Nick Young is in his eighth season in the NBA. The mark of 36.6 percent shooting from the field is the worst he’s put up to this point of his career, even in his time as a member of the Washington Wizards.
Lakers Head coach Byron Scott knows Young is struggling and wasn’t afraid to voice his opinion on his players.
Scott has been honest all season in critiquing his players. Jeremy Lin was a target of Scott’s earlier this season and he’s had words for Young as well. Now, the most recent comments by Scott about Young might be the most harsh of all comments because Scott is so right and gets to the point.
Following from Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Daily News.
“He’s not having a good year,” Lakers coach Byron Scott said of Young. “He’d be the first to admit that this hasn’t been the year he expected.” …
“It’s like basketball is my girlfriend and she is mad at me,” said Young, who averaged a team-leading 17.9 points on a 44 percent clip last season under Mike D’Antoni. “I came to the house too late. She kicked me out. Then I fell down the stairs and hurt my leg.” …
“He has to do a better job moving without the ball. It can’t be catch, then 18 dribbles and then he gets a shot,” Scott said. “When he does it that way, there’s one of two things. It’s a home run or a strikeout.”
Sure Nick Young isn’t have a great year but to be fair, the Lakers aren’t having a great year either. There are a few positives on the team like Jordan Clarkson and Ed Davis but for the most part, this season is a loss so all Swaggy P can do from here is get ready for next season.
