I’m just as surprised as you. The fact that Summer League has completely passed and the Lakers still do not have a coach.
But late is better than too late I guess. According to USA Today’s Sam Amick the Lakers have offered ex-Laker Byron Scott their vacant Head Coaching position.
His Lakers ties were a competitive edge in this race from the start, specifically his relationship with Kobe Bryant that dates back to the 1996-97 season in which Scott was on the verge of retirement and Bryant was a rookie.
This was a no brainer from the start. I don’t know how it’s gone this long. Ye was a Laker, he clearly wants the job. Why are we talking about this now?
It’s a perfect fit in my view and I can’t wait for the magic to start happening.
