The Los Angeles Lakers replace Pau Gasol who’s gone to Chicago with a guy who just got waived by Chicago. Basically a straight swap.
ESPN’s Brian Windhorst broke the story on the Lakers acquiring the amnestied Boozer.
Only nine teams in the league had sufficient salary-cap space to bid for Boozer: Atlanta, Charlotte, Houston, Milwaukee, Orlando, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Utah and the Lakers.
After a rough start to free agency, L.A. has now secured relative bargain deals with Memphis Grizzlies free-agent forward Ed Davis and Boozer to upgrade their frontcourt cast.
Brian is right. Their offseason hasn’t gone completely according to plan. From fighting for Melo, to then getting Jeremy Lin and now forwards Ed Davis and CBooz.
Considering that Pau went to Chicago and Boozer went to LA. You could say that Chicago has won this. But the Lakers are getting a solid team together nevertheless.
