check out the exact details of a disabled player exception, from CBAFAQ.com
– The team may sign a free agent for one season only, for 50% of the disabled player’s salary or the amount of the Non-Taxpayer Mid-Level exception, whichever is less.
– The team may trade for a player in the last season of his contract only (including any option years)4, who is making no more than 50% plus $100,000 of the disabled player’s salary, or the amount of the Non-Taxpayer Mid-Level exception plus $100,000, whichever is less.
– The team may claim a player on waivers who is in the last season of his contract only (including any option years), who is making no more than 50% of the disabled player’s salary, or the amount of the Non-Taxpayer Mid-Level exception, whichever is less.
Well now this is good news because with that almost $5 million dollars they can bring another player into the fold, but Nash isn’t the only player on the Lakers roster that is out for the season.
Rookie Julius Randle, who was injured in the first game of the season against the Houston Rockets, is also out for the season due to a broken leg. Randle’s progess has been going well according to reports.
The Lakers need any and all help they can get. There are a few names that may be able to help the Lakers this season.
Some players for the Lakers to look at include Pierre Jackson, Ivan Johnson, Jeff Adrien, Hassan Whiteside or Dante Cunningham.
