On the podcast released today (Oct. 15), the Rap Radar podcast hosted by Elliott Wilson and Brian “B.Dot” Miller sat down with LA Reid (a name you should know if you follow music closely). To those still in the dark, Bobby Shmurda has been in jail awaiting trial in 2014. He’s tried multiple times to get his bail situation worked out, but ultimately was denied. When asked about why Reid’s label didn’t bail out the GS9 rapper, the former LaFace boss took umbrage.
“Well, it made me feel like people don’t know anything about my business, right? It’s really not their business,” says Reid of the criticism. “Um, we’re not elected officials here. And we’re not at liberty to disclose how we do business. It’s fair practice, I can tell you that. But, it’s not the industry that it once was. We seriously don’t make the money we used to make. That’s a fact of life, right?”
