Despite Kyrie Irving and LeBron James’ rocky start this season, the two seem to be getting along very well these days.
Although they still aren’t best friends(at least LeBron doesn’t think so), Kyrie Irving is excited about finally playing with all-star level talent. He’s about to head to the playoffs for the first time in his career, and he is grateful to the team that helped him get there.
Following from USA Today’s Jeff Zillgitt,
“I’m blessed to be a part of this season, and I take full advantage of it because this is a very talented team,” Irving told USA TODAY Sports. “I enjoy being able to be out there with guys who are so selfless. It’s all about the team. We all respect each other’s games, and we all respect what we all bring to the table.”
Kyrie on playing with LeBron(per Zillgitt):
Without question, Irving enjoys having James as a teammate, calling it “one of the greatest experiences in my life. … The game is fun, and I just love playing with him.”
It’s hard to argue that LeBron’s presence hasn’t had a positive impact on Kyrie. Irving is averaging 21.9 points and 5.2 assists this season, and is shooting a career-high 40.6% from 3-point range.
Kyrie and LeBron meshing and enjoying playing together couldn’t have come at a better time for the Cavs, as the playoffs start in just 16 days, and the franchise is looking to win its first NBA championship ever.
