Boston Celtics point guard Kyrie Irving appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Thursday night, and Kimmell asked him some questions about himself and Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James, from whom he requested a trade this summer. The Cavs obliged, despite James’ wishes, and traded Irving to the Celtics.
You can watch the the Kimmel video above, but here are some quotes if you can’t:
On where he thinks LeBron James picked him in the All-Star Draft:
Irving: “In my mind, I want to say I got picked no. 1, but in actuality, probably no. I’m fine with that, I’m fine with that.”
Kimmel: “You didn’t ask LeBron where you– do you talk to him at all?”
Irving: “We’ve talked, yeah.”
Kimmel: “Is there any chance that one day you guys will be on the same team? Not just in the All-Star Game, I mean, like, for real.”
Irving: “I mean, in professional sports, anything can happen. You never know.”
To be clear, Irving by no means said anything that made it sound remotely likely that he will play with James again, he just said: “You never know.” Don’t count on Kyrie heading back to Cleveland once he hits free agency.
